Dept. of Physics & Eng. Physics - Prospective Students

Sample Schedules for Prospective Engineering Physics Majors

Important Note: These sample schedules show one of many ways to fulfill all requirements for graduation with an Engineering Physics degree. See the course catalog or the Physics Department website for a full list of courses that may be used to satisfy the engineering electives requirement, the classical elective requirement, and the contemporary elective requirement. The sequence of courses taken will differ among students depending on interests, future goals, advanced placement status, desired minor in another department, and other factors. You will need to consult regularly with the Engineering Physics advisor to maintain a program that fits your needs: Prof. Jim Mcguire (mcguire@tulane.edu) or Prof. Lev Kaplan (lkaplan@tulane.edu)

University Core Courses Note: The writing course, TIDES course, public service course, and cultural knowledge electives satisfy Newcomb-Tulane core requirements for graduation. See the Core Curriculum section of the catalog for more details. Note, however, that Engineering Physics students are exempt from the Foreign Language requirement. Instead, you are required to complete 18 credits of cultural knowledge electives (instead of the usual 12). At least 6 of these credits must be in the humanities or fine arts, at least 6 must be in the social sciences, and the remaining 6 may be in either category. Also, one of your cutural knowledge electives must satsify the European Tradition requirement, and one must satisfy the Outside of the European Tradition/Comparative Cultures requirement. Please talk regularly with your Newcomb-Tulane College advisor (http://advising.tulane.edu/) to ensure that you are meeting the requirements of the core curriculum.
